This is a full-time Performance Consultant (SEM) role at Sonar Group (hybrid).

Initially, you will work very closely with the existing Senior Performance Consultants, assisting with the campaigns and programs they run for our clients. Once you are across our Sonar way of working (up to 3 months), you will take ownership of a portfolio of clients in terms of strategy and ongoing delivery.

Additionally, you will have an opportunity to work across other areas of performance including SEO, Paid Social, Website Optimisation, Programmatic Display, Native, EDM, Analytics, Dashboarding, Website Tracking and any other digital marketing areas you can think of.

Our clients will value your opinion and ability to think strategically. From the start you will have the opportunity to communicate directly with our clients at a management level, answer their questions and impact the success of their business.



  • Develop and execute comprehensive SEM campaigns and help drive broader strategies across search, shopping, video, and display networks
  • Manage and optimise campaigns to ensure performance meets client goals and KPIs
  • Collaborate with clients on day-to-day communication, reporting and presentations, providing clear insights and strategic recommendations
  • Gain exposure to Organic Search and understand the synergy between Paid and Organic efforts
  • Gain exposure to Paid Social and broader work-streams to build connectivity for the customer
  • Stay updated on the latest trends and best practices in SEM and digital marketing and apply innovation across your clients!
    Experience with Google Tag Manager and GA4 is preferred


Hard Skills

  • Proven experience in managing and optimising Google Ads campaigns across multiple formats (search, shopping, video, and display) and more (eg Bing/Microsoft Ads)
  • Experience in connecting business needs/problems to digital recommendations/solutions
  • Familiarity with media plans and broader media/digital strategies
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data to make informed decisions
  • Good with Google Slides, Sheets & Docs, not deterred by new technology/ways of working

Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a client-focused approach
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple clients and projects simultaneously
  • Enthusiasm for learning and expanding your skill set in a fast-paced environment
  • Client facing skills including willing to share your point of view in meetings, and very personable
    Self-starter: able to take initiative and get things done


This role is a hybrid full time role to be based at the Sonar HQ in Melbourne, Australia 3-days a week, with the remaining days working from home.
