Meet Dylan Smith
Today we sit down with Dylan,Head of Webdev at Sonar, to get to know him better.
1. What is your role at Sonar?
My title is Head of Web Development, which means I manage the development team and oversee the technical implementation of our web projects.
2. What are your personal career goals?
To grow both my technical and leadership skills to work towards hopefully getting to start my own company someday.
3. What is a perfect work day for you?
A good balance of getting stuck into code and technical work but also collaborating with other teams to deliver, doing what I can to empower anyone I work with and the business as a whole.
4. Where do you look for inspiration for your work? (websites, podcasts, publications etc)
I check Hacker News everyday religiously, always try to stay on top of the latest tech and business news.
5. What do you enjoy outside of work?
I’m a big nerd so I play a lot of video games and experiment with new technology. I try to balance it with more wholesome activities like cooking, live music and playing squash.
6. What is your favourite thing about working for Sonar?
The people, great bunch who are fun to work with and are all really good at what they do.

Let’s Do This and Play the Long Game. I hold myself to a high standard and I’m always pushing myself and the people I work with to deliver the best outcome possible. It might be going that extra step to find a new type of solution or anticipating how the technology can better serve the client’s objectives, both now and into the future.
