Coffee with Hannah

Welcome to Sonar Groups ‘Team Coffee’ series, where we sit down with a team member and have a (currently virtual) coffee to get to know them better.

Questions:

1. What is your role at Sonar?

I’m an associate consultant at Sonar, I work across the business in Digital Performance, Social Media Marketing, Content Implementation and more! Primarily I support the Digital Performance team in Paid Media and SEO, creating and implementing campaigns and content. As well as creating content and branding ideas for Social Media.

2. What are your personal career goals?

Currently, the long-term career goal for me is to work as a brand/marketing manager, allowing me to think about the ‘big picture’ marketing goals and objectives. I would love a position which allows me to work creatively and collaborate, bouncing ideas off a team and thinking outside the box – constantly asking myself ‘why not’ rather than ‘why’? Personally, a non-for-profit organisation or sector of a business would be amazing! Even more than my love for marketing, I’m super passionate about working towards the ‘big goals’, and I think there is a great deal of potential for marketing to be used more and more, to educate, improve and make a difference.

3. What is a perfect work day for you?

A perfect work day for me is a day full of creativity, collaboration and learning! Working with such a dynamic team I find myself constantly upskilling and improving. I love a day filled with strategy sessions, thinking about the big ideas and brainstorming all the possibilities with no limits! I like to keep busy and change it up, jumping between different sectors of the business; design to SEO, to paid media, to website content and everything in between!

4. Where do you look for inspiration for your work?

Mostly by having discussions with others, both inside and outside of work! Also, I love a good podcast, webinar and social media browse. I find there is an endless source of inspiration out there; I follow a huge variety of different businesses to keep up to date and feel inspired by what everyone else is doing (as well as finding the hidden gaps to what no one is doing)!

5. What do you enjoy outside of work?

I love getting outdoors, I would go to the beach every day if I could! I love water activities (supping, surfing, swimming) and love a super long walk (especially during COVID)! I’m always keen to go away, whether it be overseas or road tripping, and especially with a group of mates! I love languages, I’ve been learning French for about 8 years and keen to start Spanish next year. I’m not very good at sitting down and ‘relaxing’ but if I do, I’ll paint, draw, maybe read or watch a TV show (currently it’s Money Heist – I’m addicted)!

6. What is your favourite thing about working for Sonar?

Honestly, there are a few favourites. I have always loved the environment; a collaborative, supportive and positive workplace that really encourages the team and each individual to learn and develop. I’m always given the opportunity and encouraged to upskill and improve, which is super important to me! I love the transparency between the team, the business and our clients, and the acceptance that we can constantly improve and no one knows everything! Plus the REAL favourite… we are allowed dogs at work!!!

7. What are your top three songs, books, podcasts, and movies?

Books: My favourite book of all times is ‘The Little Prince’! Second to that probably ‘Oh the Places You’ll Go’, and third ‘The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*CK’.

Podcasts: Top three podcasts would be ‘Seize The Yay’, ‘The Squize’ and ‘Stuff you Should Know’.

Songs: Constantly changes! But multiple songs from ABBA, The Beatles and Fleetwood Mac are always pretty high up there.

Movies: Again I don’t think I can choose three but Mamma Mia, Love Actually, and The Castle.

8. What is your favourite food?

An IMPOSSIBLE question to answer… I love Pad Thai (and all Thai!), fish and chips (on the beach is best), pancakes, berries, watermelon, wedges, chocolate, and so many more!

9. What is your favourite quote?

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.” – Dr. Seuss
