As social media further integrates with ecommerce, the customer digital ecosystem becomes even more intertwined. And begins to beg the question, what is content and what is a store?
Instagram Shopping is a relatively new feature which tags products in social media posts, allowing for a direct link to a brand’s online store. Purchases can be made almost instantaneously, allowing for a smooth experience for customers devoid of unnecessary barriers. Instagram Shopping however is currently only available to approved brands, who have the required Instagram Business and Facebook connections already setup. Tag creation is also quite involved, with brand’s requiring a Facebook catalogue to provide the functionality.
With ecommerce integration, social media’s ROI can be more effectively measured, analysed, and compared – something many brand struggle with. And once up and running, Shopping has the potential to deliver amazing ecommerce results.
